Let's pray and intercede for the UK along the lines of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Isaiah 60:1-2...

“…if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.” (Isaiah 60:1-2)

Pray UK provides an opportunity for intercessors to come together to pray for the UK and beyond.

Pray UK: Thursday 3rd September (10.00am – midday) IN PERSON

  • Venue: Prayer Room at Plymouth Christian Centre, Embankment Road, Plymouth PL4 9HP
  • An opportunity to pray for the wider church in the South-West and for a turning in our nation.
  • Praying for revival in the UK along the lines of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Isaiah 60:1-2.

In the first half of the meeting we’ll be praying for believers in our city, region and nation.

Ephesians 6:18 NLT
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

In praying for ‘all believers’, let’s echo Jesus’ prayer in John 17 in praying for the church. Three times He prays for unity (Vs 20-23), which is so important in these days where there is much division in our nation, and even the church.

We’ll also pray about what Jesus considers to be the ‘way’ or ‘means’ to unity in the Body of Christ: Protection from the evil one and sin.

John 17:11 NIV

“Holy Father, protect them…so that they may be one…”

As the evil one battles against the church to tempt and deceive, let’s pray that we’ll remain wholehearted disciples, set apart, holy unto God, for His plans and purposes in this season. Let’s pray for protection from the wily ways of the enemy who wants to distract us and believe all sorts of lies that are contrary to God’s Word.

Ephesians 6:10-11 AMPC
In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put on God’s whole armour [the armour of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

Let’s also pray for a fear of the Lord to fall upon us as it is absolutely key in protecting us from evil, as highlighted by Tristan Stevenson-Coulshaw in his book, ‘MADE READY in the FEAR OF THE LORD’ (Preparing the bride of Christ for His return.)

Proverbs 16:6 AMPC
By mercy and love, truth and fidelity [to God and man—not by sacrificial offerings], iniquity is purged out of the heart, and by the reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord men depart from and avoid evil.

In the 2nd half of the meeting, let’s pray for a turning in our nation from our current state, where unbelief and evil is so prevalent, that as a nation we will turn to the living God who is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love.

Psalm 103:6-13 NIV
The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
He made known his ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of Israel:
The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse, nor will He harbour His anger forever;
He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him;
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.

As it stands, there is due to be a vote in Parliament about the ‘Assisted Suicide’ Bill on 11th September, so let’s take the opportunity to cry out to the Lord about this issue as well as any other matters on our hearts such as the proposed law changes about marriage and conversion therapy, and the continuing scourge of abortion on our nation. 

‘I have heard all about you, Lord. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy.’ (Habakkuk 3:2 NLT)
